Vienna, the 23rd of October 2007: Together with our partners, we - the bit group – are looking back on a successful year 2007. This is not only reflected in our clients’ satisfaction, but also in the renewed recognition of our company through prominent experts from economy and politics.
Thus, we are glad to announce that we have been awarded the renowned State Prize for Consulting for the first time. For our multiple award-winning company, the prize marks another great milestone in our more than 20-year history.
With the implementation of so-called “Secondary Technical Institutes” we were able to assert ourselves against five other nominees. In only seven months, a complete school-system – similar to that of HTLs in Austria – was installed under the most difficult conditions in the crisis-plagued region of Kurdistan.
The Austrian Ministry of Work and Economy awards the State Prize, above all, for consulting efforts with especially high potential for employment and export. The members of the jury also expressed their appreciation for the model-character of the project regarding the generation of work-places and economic sustainability in a challenging environment.
We would like to accept the praise of the jury not only as a confirmation of our performance in the past, but also as an incentive to keep living up to our clients’ high expectations with courageous, innovative and high-quality work.

The bit Group wins the Constantinus Award |
|
|
This is the fifth year that the Constantinus Award, Austria’s biggest IT and Consultant prize, was awarded. The winner in the category „Constantinus International“ is: bit media e-Learning solution. Bit media was also nominated in the category „Personnel and Tranining“ and was awarded 3rd place.
The following applies particularly in the Consultant and IT Branch: Market opportunities are growing. More and more companies are availing themselves of the Consultant-Know-how to safeguard their performance in poor economic times. Decisive for success, in view of increasing competition, is the quality of Consultant and IT services. This quality is publicly recognized with the Constantinus Award annually, with particular effect on the target group, due to the initiative of the UBIT trade association.
Prizes were awarded for the best projects from the categories „Management Consulting“, „Information-technologies“, „Personnel & Training“, „Communication & Networks“ and „Open Source“. There were special prizes for Young Entrepreneurs and – with the Constantinus International – for transnational projects.
„The Constantinus International that was awarded for the first time last year, is intended to highlight the export capabilities of the branch“, explains Ehart.
In the prize-winning project in the category Constantiunus International, bit media served as the partner for educational projects in Kurdistan for the establishment of vocational IT colleges in several cities. On the occasion of the visit of the Education Minister of Kurdistan in Graz in March 2006, bit media was again confirmed as a valued partner with the awarding of a new cooperation agreement (in addition to the existing one) for the establishment of vocational schools in several cities in the autonomous region of Kurdistan (Nord-Iraq). bit media brings its longterm experience from its cooperation with Austrian schools and comprehensive competence in the IT training field.
The newly established Secondary Technical Institutes (the official name), are comparable to HTLs (technical high schools) for IT professions in Austria.
The goal of the five year school program is the training and education of specialists in various areas of information technology. In addition to the local school diploma, the students also take exams for international certifications.
This assures the future IT specialists a high standard of training with secure future prospects. The high percentage of practical instruction prepares the graduates optimally for future jobs in business and public institutions. In addition to their expert training, great importance is placed on the development of language skills. English and Arabic are mandatory subjects and English is also the language of instruction for all IT subjects.
Basic sciences such as math and physics, as well as economic subjects complement the education. The project was financed directly by the Education Ministry of Kurdistan. Three of these institutes began operation in October 2006 in the district capitals of Erbil, Sulaimaniyah und Duhok, each with 3 first classes.
Conclusion:
Many good projects were submitted, but the victor was clearly:
The bit group

bit media is a Microsoft Distributor |
Effective immediately, bit media is an official distributor for the US company Microsoft, in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. As a result of the contract signed with Microsoft in Redmond (USA) in January 2007, the German-Austrian company is the first provider of custom Microsoft eLearning Courses outside of the USA.
With its "International Competence Center for Microsoft eLearning", bit media is focused on training providers and organizations that implement Microsoft eLearning Courses for Web-based trainings, in order to support the attainment of the coveted Microsoft certifications. The range of Microsoft eLearning products includes more than 350 courses, divided into the categories "IT Professional", "Software Developer" and "Information Worker". Together with its own developed contents, bit media can now be counted among the largest eLearning providers on this side of the Atlantic.
"The partnership with Microsoft is the first step in a long-term, strategic cooperation. The bit group will be strengthening this cooperation with further contracts in the near future", explains Stephan Sticher, proprietor of the Austrian bit group.
The Microsoft Courses, available in a variety of languages, are characterized by a high degree of multimedia and interactivity. The so-called "Virtual Labs" are a particular highlight. Here, the users can practice their knowledge and skills using the original software without having to install them on their own PCs. Learner groups, such as IT-Professionals can access Microsoft computer resources through a remote control function and thereby conveniently practice the administration of an Exchange-Server. This saves time, as well as costs, for the hardware and software necessary for the training. |
