Project objectives:
In Kenya there are some 250.000 deaf children and an even larger number of deaf adults, usually as a result of infections or unclean drinking water. Although there are special schools for these children, only about 4% of them achieve their diploma. One reason for this is the lack of qualified teachers and appropriate teaching methods. Kenya wishes to confront this problem and in cooperation with the aid organisation DeafAid, they have begun to improve the situation.
Project implementation:
Concepts and learning contents on the subject „How to teach deaf children“ have been developed and published online in the form of 19 e-Learning modules and made available on CDs for the continuing education and training of teachers.
Additionally, trainings in the area of IT and e-Learning in general have been conducted to assure the effective implementation of these modules.
bit media managed all necessary areas with regard to the conceptualisation of the learning contents, story boards, content development tools, content development, coaching, installation of the learning platform for the online distribution of the contents, CD production and teacher training.
Project Results:
19 e-Learning courses have been developed on the topic of teacher training for deaf children. Four teachers and IT experts were trained in content creation, storybook writing and media development. |
