Job Compass

Project objectives:
The Labour Market Service commissioned bit to develop and implement a training programme for job seekers in order to improve their uptake of job opportunities.

Target group:
The project was designed for job-seekers of both genders between the ages of 15 and 58. 1.500 participants were trained each year.

Project implementation:
The training focused on career guidance, expanstion of job seekers’ perspectives and job search activities.
Because of the heterogeneous target group (age, education, profession, and knowledge about application management) bit schulungscenter developed a training concept which guaranteed utmost flexibility within the individual procedure for every participant.
The first step was a target-oriented clearing phase. The second step was the development of an individual training and counselling plan containing a wide-ranging training portfolio with classic application topics (preparing application papers, individual training for the application meeting, etc.), as well as IT trainings (for the professional realisation of the application management) and soft skills courses (team work, analysis of job potential, etc.) – individually for every participant.
The training contents were taught in various methodological approaches (face to face trainings, team work , self-learning stages, discussions, exchange of views) in individual or group coaching.
Of utmost importance was the consideration of the circumstances of the participants’ lives (consideration of child care duties during the trainings, reduction of problems with the employment facilities because of unclear child care duties, feeling guilty about the children because of going back to work as a subject of discussion, etc.).

Project Results:
The project “JobKompass” started for the first time in April 2003. Due to the great success of the project, bit is now working on the fifth follow-up project. Each project lasted one year.
